How To Make Honey Buns At Home?

The recipe of soft and yummy honey buns is simple as you should not over-knead the dough. Moreover, there are some tips to follow like you have to allow it to rise in a warm environment. But let’s just get to the recipe and then you will be able to understand everything.

Ingredients For Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs

Ingredients For Filling

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Ingredients For Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method For Dough

Firstly, you have to take a big mixing bowl and then mix 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt and yeast. After that, you have to take the saucepan and heat milk and butter together until the butter melts completely. Now, you have to remove it from heat and let it cool down a bit. When it will be able to touch then you have to add milk mixture to the dry ingredients. Keep mixing all these things well so that you get the right mixture.

Furthermore, you have to beat in the eggs but make sure to add one egg at a time. Now, you have to gradually add the remaining flour until the mixture turns into a soft dough. Moreover, you have to knead the dough on the floured surface for around 6 minutes until it becomes elastic.

On the other hand, you have to place this smooth but elastic dough in a greased bowl and then cover it up. It has to rise for around an hour in a warm place. However, if it is risen and gets double in size then it means you got the dough what you want.

Method For Filling

For the filling, you have to take a small bowl and then add brown sugar, honey, softened butter and cinnamon together properly. When the dough rises then you have to punch it down and then keep rolling it on a floured surface. But remember, you have to make it in rectangle shape and it must be 1/4 inches thick.

Moreover, you have to spread the filling mixture evenly on the dough and then roll the dough tightly so that the filling does not come out. Now, it is the time to slice the complete log into equal pieces. You may get 12-14 pieces according to your choice. Place the rolls in the greased baking dish and then leave some space between every roll. You may also need to cover it properly and then let it rise but it will take around 1 hour.

Furthermore, you have to preheat your oven to 350°F and once the rolls rise then you have to bake them in the preheated oven for around half an hour. However, make sure that the rolls are turning into golden brown.

Method For Glaze

To make the glaze, you have to take a small bowl and then mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract and milk. Keep stirring these ingredients together until a smooth mixture forms. After it’s finished, remove the honey buns from the oven and brush them with the glaze.
