  • lemon wedges
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 whole calamari steaks
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1½ tbsp lemon juice


First of all, you have to heat up oil in a big skillet on high heat. It should be hot but make sure it is not smoking. When the oil is heating then you need to mix together flour, cheese and pepper in a bowl. After that, you have to take another bowl and add eggs in it. Put some water and beat the eggs with water.

Furthermore, you have to take each steak and put in the flour mixture. Make sure to remove the excess and then dip in the mixture of egg. After that, you have to put it in a plate. Now, you have to start cooking by putting them into the hot oil of skillet. Make sure that each side of steak is fully cooked. When steak will get golden brown shade then it means your steak is cooked.

Move it to the platter and cover loosely so that it stays warm. Continue dipping, dredging, and sautéing the remaining steaks before placing them on a dish.

It is now time for you to drain the oil from the skillet. You then need to taste and add butter and lemon juice. Also, you need to add the capers to the skillet. After that, you have to heat it over medium heat for 45 seconds.  You need to completely melt the butter. Make sure to serve the steaks immediately after pouring the lemon caper sauce. Have fun!
